WHO WE ARE
CommunityCAPS Inc. stands for community climate action plan support. The purpose of CommunityCAPS Inc. is to help cities and counties with a population of 100,000 or fewer to implement Climate Action Plans. To be eligible for CommunityCAPS Inc. assistance, the governing body of the city or county must have adopted a substantive Climate Action Plan. We are a not-for-profit company with a 501C fiscal agent registered in every state (Triangle Strategic and Financial Advising for Not-for-Profits, Inc.).
WHAT WE DO
We work with local jurisdictions to implement actions identified in their Climate Action Plans. We do this primarily by raising funds, applying for grants on their behalf, and by developing tools to help them monitor progress. We also work with community members to inform them about the need to address climate change and to build grass roots support for change.
Climate action areas that may be funded include, but are not be limited to, the following:

Transportation Alternative Area (ex. walkable capacity, bicycles, vanpool, public transit)

Renewable energy (ex. solar, geothermal, other)

Ecosystem Enhancement (ex. stormwater control, organic waste composting, tree preservation, appearance, watershed protection, pollution control, water quality, recycling)

Urban Design and Zoning (ex. town core redesign, land use planning)

Food Choice (ex. beef to beans, local public gardens, local farmer's markets)
